Manoj Kumar Steps into Kannada Film Industry with Ravi Films, Bringing Decades of Cinematic Legacy

Manoj Kumar, a third-generation film distributor and the latest torchbearer of his family’s rich cinematic heritage, is making waves in the Kannada film industry with his venture, Ravi Films. With a family legacy that began in 1951, Manoj’s journey is deeply rooted in Karnataka’s film culture.

The story of Kumar’s family in the cinema business began with his grandparents, Ranganna and N.P. Rudramma, who founded Touring Talkies in a small town called Kunigal. Together, they brought the magic of cinema to audiences across nearby villages, making movie nights an eagerly awaited event in communities across Magadi, Nelamangala, and beyond. The family eventually settled in Yelahanka, where they established a popular theater now known as Prakash Theater, a beloved landmark in the region for the past 50 years. Over time, the Kumar family became a trusted name, known for bringing quality films to audiences across Karnataka.

Manoj, an engineering graduate from PESIT, Bangalore, brings a unique blend of technical and cinematic expertise to the industry. After starting his career in Germany with Mercedes, Kumar returned to India, driven by his passion to advance his family’s film distribution business. Under the mentorship of his father, Chandrashekar, Manoj honed his skills in marketing and distribution, overseeing the success of blockbuster films like Raja, Annayya, Aparichitudu, Athadu, and Maska across Karnataka. These titles, featuring stars such as Chiranjeevi and Venkatesh, have cemented his family’s reputation as a trusted name in film distribution.

As Manoj turns his focus to Kannada cinema, he aims to introduce a diverse slate of films that resonate with audiences in Karnataka and beyond. His upcoming release, Megha, a heartwarming family drama, is already generating anticipation among moviegoers. Speaking about his vision, Manoj shared, “I’m excited to bring new stories and experiences to the Kannada film industry, building on my family’s commitment to quality cinema. We are dedicated to making films that connect with audiences on a deep level.”

With Megha set to hit theaters soon, Kumar’s debut in the Kannada market marks a new chapter for Ravi Films. Stay tuned for updates on this and future releases as Manoj Kumar reshapes the landscape of Kannada cinema with a passion for storytelling that runs deep in his family’s legacy.
