Shri Sarbananda Sonowal Launches National Logistics Portal

Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, the Chief Minister of Assam, recently inaugurated the National Logistics Portal (NLP), a new digital platform aimed at improving the efficiency of India’s supply chain. The NLP will serve as a one-stop-shop for all logistics-related information, bringing together data from across the country and making it accessible to businesses, government agencies, and individuals.

The NLP is expected to revolutionize the logistics sector by streamlining the flow of goods and information, reducing costs and lead times, and improving the overall efficiency of the supply chain. With real-time data and a user-friendly interface, the NLP will make it easier for businesses to plan and execute their logistics operations, while also providing valuable insights into the performance of the sector as a whole.

The NLP has been developed by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in partnership with several key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the Ministry of Shipping, and the Ministry of Railways. The platform is expected to be an important tool for promoting the growth of the logistics sector, which is crucial to the development of the Indian economy.

Shri Sarbananda Sonowal emphasized the importance of the NLP for the growth of the logistics sector in Assam and the northeast region. He stated that the portal would help create new job opportunities and provide a boost to the local economy by improving the efficiency of the supply chain. He also praised the government’s efforts to promote the development of the logistics sector and expressed his confidence that the NLP would be a valuable resource for businesses and individuals across the country.

The Latch On function aids the trade by delivering essential capabilities that are not directly included in NLP Marine by smoothly connecting through systems established by other agencies without duplication of effort. It is expected that various separate apps, produced by multiple manufacturers, consumers, and other stakeholders would integrate with NLP Marine through suitable curation. It also allows for digital transactions for payments necessary for clearing processes such as port fees, CFS fees, shipping line fees, and transportation fees.
