Tragedy struck in Kalol town of Gujarat’s Gandhinagar district as a state-run bus, operated by the Gujarat State Regional Transport Corporation (GSRTC), ran over commuters waiting at a local bus stop on Wednesday morning. The incident resulted in the loss of five lives and left six others injured.
According to the police, the accident occurred around 7.30 am when a speeding private bus collided with the GSRTC bus from behind, causing the driver to lose control.Authorities swiftly responded to the incident, with the police lodging a complaint against the driver of the private bus for reckless driving. An official from the Kalol police station reported that a crowd had gathered at the bus stop when the GSRTC bus was struck by the private bus, leading to the driver’s loss of control. The location of the incident was identified as Ambika Nagar in Kalol town.The deceased victims were identified as Sharda Jagaria (50) from Gopalnagar, Balwant Thakor (45) from Piyaj village, Dilipsinh Vihol (48) from Isand, Parth Patel (22) from Panchwati, and Savan Darji (21) from Kalol.
Their bodies were sent to the hospital for post-mortem examinations, while the injured were promptly transported to a government hospital for medical treatment.This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with reckless driving. The authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, and it is hoped that appropriate action will be taken against those responsible for the loss of lives and injuries.
