Delhi Police have released a photograph of an individual who allegedly engaged in an obscene act on a Delhi Metro service last month. The police are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the man and assuring potential witnesses that their identities will be kept confidential.
The incident, which was captured on video by a fellow commuter, depicted a young man masturbating while aboard a Delhi Metro train. As the man continued his inappropriate behavior, nearby passengers chose to distance themselves, and no one intervened to stop him.
Following the circulation of the video, a case was registered after Swati Maliwal, the chief of the Delhi Commission for Women, issued a notice to the Delhi Police. Maliwal strongly condemned the incident as “shameful” and demanded that strict action be taken against the man involved.
In response to the incident, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has intensified security measures and surveillance within the train coaches. All security personnel have been instructed to remain vigilant and promptly report any such activities.
To aid in the identification of the individual, the deputy commissioner of police for the Delhi Metro has provided contact information for informing the police. The public is encouraged to reach out to the Station House Officer (SHO) at the Indira Gandhi International Airport Metro police station, either via phone at 8750871326 or through the control room at 1511. The general police helpline number, 112, can also be used to report information. The police have emphasized that the identity of the informer will be kept confidential.
