NASA and the Small Business Administration (SBA) are set to convene a joint event on Tuesday, July 18, at NASA Headquarters in Washington, inviting media representatives to witness the unveiling of the Fiscal Year 2022 Small Business Federal Procurement Scorecard. The event, hosted by NASA Administrator Bill Nelson and NASA Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy, will showcase how federal agencies rank in meeting their small business goals. During the event, SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman will disclose the scorecard, which includes NASA’s rating. This unveiling aims to shed light on the agency’s efforts to collaborate with small businesses and boost their participation in federal procurement opportunities.
The occasion will take place at the recently inaugurated Earth Information Center in NASA Headquarters’ Easy Lobby, located at 300 E St. SW in Washington. NASA’s Karla Smith Jackson, the deputy chief acquisition officer, and assistant administrator for procurement, along with Glenn Delgado, the associate administrator for the agency’s Office of Small Business Programs, will be in attendance. Additionally, leaders from small businesses that work with NASA will join the event. Jackson and Delgado will be available for interviews after the news conference concludes. Over the years, NASA has consistently earned an “A” rating from the SBA for its endeavors in collaborating with small businesses, including historically underutilized, women-owned, and veteran-owned/service-disabled businesses.
This recognition underscores NASA’s commitment to fostering partnerships with small businesses and providing them with opportunities to contribute to the agency’s mission. Media representatives interested in covering the event must RSVP to Tiffani Clements via email at tiffani.clements@sba.gov, no later than two hours before the event’s commencement. However, space is limited, so prompt registration is advised to secure attendance.
The upcoming event serves as a platform for NASA and the SBA to celebrate the accomplishments of federal agencies in meeting their small business goals. By unveiling the Small Business Federal Procurement Scorecard, the event will highlight NASA’s rating and underscore the agency’s dedication to supporting and engaging with small businesses. As NASA continues to prioritize collaboration with these enterprises, this event serves as a testament to their importance in advancing space exploration and fostering economic growth.
