Jaipur, Rajasthan – In a startling discovery, government officials in Rajasthan stumbled upon a significant amount of unclaimed cash and a gold bar weighing 1 kilogram at Yojana Bhawan, a prominent government building. Following specific information provided by Mahesh Gupta, Additional Director of the IT Department, the Jaipur city police swiftly recovered the concealed items.
The incident has led to the detention of approximately 7 to 8 individuals from the department for further questioning. During a late-night press conference, Chief Secretary Usha Sharma, DGP, and Jaipur Police Commissioner Anand Srivastava disclosed the details of the findings. According to Commissioner Srivastava, the Additional Director of the IT Department informed the police about the discovery of the cash and gold bar in the building’s basement. An estimated sum of over Rs 2.31 crore in cash, along with approximately 1 kg of gold biscuits, was found concealed within a bag stored in a cupboard. To address the situation, the police invoked Section 102 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and seized the recovered currency and gold.
A dedicated team has been formed to investigate the matter thoroughly, examining relevant CCTV footage to gather additional evidence. The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, has also been apprised of the incident.
