As the announced deadline for linking Aadhaar details with electricity connections is only four days left, the employees of the Electricity Board are going door to door and engaging in the linking work. The work of linking Aadhaar details with electricity connections started from November 15 last year across the state. At first people hesitated to link Aadhaar details.
The government then warned that Aadhaar linking was mandatory, failing which electricity connections would be removed. With this, people showed interest in linking Aadhaar details. Electricity Board officials have set a deadline of December 31 to link the Aadhaar details of 1.67 crore electricity consumers across the state.
After that the deadline was extended till January 31. Finally, the deadline was extended till 15th of this month. In these circumstances, as there are only four days left before the expiry of this deadline, the details of those who have not yet linked their Aadhaar details are being collected and the connection work is being done intensively by going door to door.
They are meeting people in rented houses and taking the phone numbers of the house owners, calling them and asking for Aadhaar details. More than two thousand electricity board employees are currently roaming around the houses across the state.
