Tragedy struck on Saturday at a car show in the San Vicente area of Ensenada, Baja California, as a violent shootout unfolded, claiming the lives of at least 10 road racers and leaving nine others injured. The incident occurred during an all-terrain car racing exhibition, turning what should have been a celebration of automotive prowess into a scene of horror.

According to the Baja California State Attorney General’s Office, the attack took place around 2:18 pm (2118 GMT) when individuals wielding long guns emerged from a gray van and opened fire on participants at a gas station. Distressed witnesses immediately dialed emergency services, with frantic 911 calls reporting the terrifying ordeal. Responding swiftly to the distress calls, municipal and state police, along with the Marines, Fire Department, and Mexican Red Cross, arrived at the scene, launching a massive operation to bring the situation under control.

Mayor Armando Ayala Robles announced that State Attorney General Ricardo Ivan Carpio Sanchez had assigned a special investigative group to unravel the circumstances surrounding the shooting. As of now, the identities and nationalities of the victims have not been disclosed publicly. However, Mexico’s Red Cross promptly transported the wounded to hospitals in Northern Baja California, ensuring they received vital medical attention.
