In a welcome boost to the Indian team, all-rounder Deepak Chahar has been recalled to the squad for the remaining two T20Is against Australia. The 30-year-old last played for India in an ODI against Sri Lanka in December 2022 before being sidelined with a back injury.

Chahar’s Impressive Domestic Form

Chahar’s return to the national fold is a testament to his impressive form in domestic cricket. In the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, the medium-pacer has been in top-notch form, picking up 16 wickets in five matches at an impressive economy rate of 5.24. He also displayed his batting skills, scoring an unbeaten 66 off 56 balls against Arunachal Pradesh.

Chahar’s Versatility Adds Depth to India’s Squad

Chahar’s ability to both bowl and bat provides India with valuable versatility in the T20I squad. His right-arm medium pace bowling, coupled with his ability to swing the ball, can be a potent weapon against the Australian batting lineup. Additionally, his hard-hitting abilities in the lower order can provide India with late-innings firepower.

A Welcome Addition to the Bowling Department

Chahar’s return is particularly significant considering India’s bowling struggles in the first two T20Is against Australia. The team’s pacers have lacked consistency, and Chahar’s addition can provide much-needed depth and stability to the bowling attack.

Chahar Aims to Make a Mark

Chahar will be eager to make a strong impact on his return to the national team. He has been working hard on his fitness and is confident of replicating his domestic form at the international level.
