RECESSION
A recession is a period of economic downturn, characterized by reduced trade and industry activity, high unemployment, and falling prices (deflation). These are measured by a decline in a country’s gross domestic product (GDP) for two or more consecutive quarters.
In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the global economy was hard hit. While the economy struggled to recover, the Russia-Ukraine war hit the economy as another great setback. The combination of these two factors is likely to push the global economy into recession next year, and India is not exempt.
India may lose 7.8 percent of its output in 2023, the Eurozone will lose 5.1%, China will lose 5.7 percent, the UK will lose 6,8 percent, and Russia may lose 12,6 percent. In recent years, rising interest rates, weaker currencies, and rising public debt have pushed up food and fuel prices, creating uncertainty in global economic markets.

TESLA SHARE DROPPED BY 60%
On Wednesday, Tesla’s shares fell further to around $137 each, its lowest ever, as Elon Musk again blamed global macroeconomic conditions. As a result of Musk’s acquisition of Twitter in April of this year, Tesla’s stock has plummeted dramatically. In light of Musk’s busy micromanagement at Twitter, Tesla’s shares have fallen over 60% since then.
FAREWELL TO KING OF SOCCER
One of the greatest players of all time was PELE, a Brazilian forward. On 29th December 2022, he passed away. On Monday, Santos’ coastal city bid its hero a final farewell during a 24-hour wake. Santos football fans lined up to see Pele’s body in an open casket at the Vila Belmiro stadium.
