Former Chief Minister of Punjab and Congress leader, Charanjit Singh Channi, has successfully completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Political Science from Panjab University in Chandigarh. The esteemed university conferred the PhD certificate upon Dr. Channi during a ceremony on Saturday, where he was joined by fellow graduates.
Dr. Channi, who served as the 16th Chief Minister of Punjab, assumed office in September 2021. He had also been the Congress party’s candidate for the position of Chief Minister in the 2022 Assembly elections.
Despite his efforts, Channi faced defeat in both of the constituencies he contested, namely Chamkaur Sahib and Bahadur, losing to the candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). However, alongside his political engagements, Dr. Channi dedicated himself to furthering his academic pursuits. His recent accomplishment of obtaining a PhD in Political Science highlights his commitment to education and scholarly advancement. The vice chancellor of Panjab University presented him with the prestigious certificate, recognizing his significant academic achievement. This milestone in Dr. Channi’s career demonstrates his multifaceted interests and the importance he places on both public service and intellectual growth.
