Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has taken urgent action to address the escalating law-and-order situation in the communally sensitive Nuh district. A high-level meeting has been convened to discuss the recent outbreak of violence that occurred on Monday. Haryana’s Home Minister, Anil Vij, who had ordered a thorough investigation into the Nuh violence, will also be present in the meeting, which is set to take place in Chandigarh. The violence in Nuh has resulted in the tragic loss of two Home Guard jawans and another unidentified individual.

Responding to the situation, Home Minister Anil Vij described it as a well-planned conspiracy with the intention of disrupting peace in both the state and the country. He asserted that the state government officials have been instructed to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the matter, vowing to hold those responsible accountable for their actions. The unrest in Nuh did not occur suddenly, according to Vij. Instead, it appears to have been orchestrated by anti-social elements who gathered stones and resorted to firing bullets. To maintain peace and stability, the state government has sought 20 companies of paramilitary forces from the Centre, which conducted a flag march in Nuh.

Despite the deployment of security forces, the situation remains tense, with several police personnel injured, some critically. Vij appealed to all political parties not to politicize the Nuh episode and urged them to prioritize the restoration of peace. He emphasized that the government’s utmost concern is to establish calm and stability in the affected region. Curfew has been imposed in Nuh, along with a suspension of internet services, and ample security forces have been deployed to handle any potential escalation. The clashes initially erupted on Monday afternoon when a religious procession passing through the district was attacked.

Subsequently, violence spread to other parts of Haryana, including Sohna in Gurugram district. In an alarming incident on Monday night, a mob of around 45 individuals targeted a mosque in Gurugram’s Sector 57, firing shots and setting it ablaze. The state authorities are taking the situation seriously and are determined to restore peace and order. Investigations are ongoing, and stringent actions will be taken against those found guilty of instigating violence and disrupting communal harmony in Nuh. The state and central governments are working collaboratively to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected communities and to prevent any further escalation of tensions in the region.
