IT Employee Arrested for Trespassing and Attempted Molestation at Chennai Women’s Hostel


In a distressing incident, a 25-year-old IT employee, identified as G Daniel, has been apprehended by the Greater Chennai police for allegedly trespassing into a working women’s hostel and attempting to molest a woman. The accused, residing in the vicinity of the hostel at M M Narayana Nagar in Anna Nagar (West), had reportedly been planning to gain access to the premises. During the early hours of Sunday, he managed to enter the hostel through the neighborhood, according to police reports.

At approximately 3:30 am, a 28-year-old woman who was asleep in her room awoke to a feeling of unease. To her horror, she discovered Daniel attempting to molest her through the window. Startled, she screamed in shock, alerting her hostel mates. However, before they could apprehend the perpetrator, he swiftly fled the scene, taking advantage of the commotion, as reported by the police. The victim promptly lodged a complaint at the V 3 J J Nagar police station, leading to the formation of a special team to investigate the matter further. Utilizing CCTV footage, the police successfully identified Daniel as the prime suspect.

Following his arrest, the accused was presented before a magistrate and subsequently remanded in judicial custody. This step ensures that he will remain in custody until the completion of the legal proceedings.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of women in the city, particularly in vulnerable spaces such as hostels.
