Karnataka’s Home Minister, G Parameshwara, has issued a three-month ultimatum to the police department to improve traffic management in Bengaluru. In a meeting with senior officials at the police commissionerate, Parameshwara emphasized the need for efficient policing and directed top officials to personally monitor traffic congestion in key areas for at least three hours a day. He also expressed concerns about real estate issues and rowdyism, stressing that these problems directly impact the daily lives of citizens.
Parameshwara, who previously served as the state’s home minister, emphasized the importance of effective policing in enhancing residents’ quality of life. He urged the police force to be friendly and prioritize assisting the public. Addressing the issue of traffic management in Bengaluru, he called for a comprehensive plan to be implemented within the next three months. He specifically instructed all traffic deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) to be present on the ground during peak hours to alleviate congestion at bottlenecks. The minister emphasized the need for prompt action to decongest the city.
To improve accessibility for the public, the Director General of Police (DGP) announced that starting from June 20, all police stations across the state will prominently display the phone numbers of top officials. This initiative will allow citizens to directly contact higher-ranking officials if their complaints are not addressed by the local station. The government’s focus on traffic management comes as Bengaluru continues to face severe congestion issues. With the city’s rapid urbanization and increasing population, traffic congestion has become a major concern for residents. The Home Minister’s directive highlights the government’s commitment to finding effective solutions to these challenges and improving the overall transportation experience for citizens.
By setting a three-month deadline, G Parameshwara has emphasized the urgency of the situation and the need for swift action. The involvement of senior officials in monitoring traffic congestion demonstrates the government’s dedication to finding practical solutions. The initiative to display the contact information of top officials in police stations aims to provide a direct channel for citizens to voice their concerns and ensure their grievances are heard. As the government and police department work together to tackle the traffic management issue, the people of Bengaluru can look forward to a more streamlined and efficient transportation system in the near future.
