Kulwantbir Singh Ghoman, a well-known public figure in Gurdaspur district, was born on April 7, 1960, in Ghoman village of Baba Namdev Nagar. Hailing from a family deeply rooted in local politics, his father served as a four-time Sarpanch of Ghoman village and held the position of Chairman. The family had strong affiliations with Pratap Singh Kairon, the former Chief Minister of Punjab. Kulwantbir Singh Ghoman himself held the position of Ex-Sarpanch of Ghoman, which boasts a population of over 30,000 and 11,000 votes. He also served as a member of the Block Samiti and held the title of Ex-Chairman.
Engaged in politics for years, he and his son Parambir Singh Rana Ghoman were inactive from party political activities since 2017 due to family reasons. However, in 2021, both decided to reenter the political arena. They joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) under the leadership of MLA Advocate Amarpal Singh of Shrihargobindpur Sahib. This move was influenced by their admiration for Kejriwal and Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Kulwantbir Ghoman’s association with AAP garnered support, as he brought along 35 Sarpanchs, numerous ex-Sarpanchs, Block Samiti members, and Vice Chairman of the Market Committee. Their united effort resulted in significant support from the villagers.
In a conversation with our team, Kulwantbir Singh Ghoman expressed his desire to retire from electoral contests. He emphasized his intention to support MLA Advocate Amarpal Singh for development initiatives, praising his education, sportsmanship, and reputable family background. Ghoman is known for his philanthropic endeavors and extended assistance to the underprivileged and anyone who visits his home or office.
With close ties to various political figures including Sardar Jagroop Singh Sekhwa, Kamaljeet Singh Bhatia, Inderbir Singh Nijjar, and others, Kulwantbir Ghoman believes that the promises made by the AAP government will be fulfilled soon. He credited the Punjab government for accomplishing over 70% of its commitments within the first year. In his words, he expressed confidence in AAP’s future endeavors and the potential of MLA Advocate Amarpal Singh to bring positive change to the region.
Additionally, Kulwantbir Singh Ghoman stated that the Aam Aadmi Party will secure all seats in the upcoming 2024 Punjab parliamentary elections.
