Yakhwrai Welfare Society, an NGO based in the Mandai area, has redefined community welfare by distributing areca nut nurseries to selected beneficiaries across various parts of Tripura. The initiative, initiated during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, has yielded tremendous results after four years.
The Yakhwrai Welfare Society’s team members, driven by the vision of fostering sustainable livelihoods, carefully selected individuals in need to receive areca nut nurseries. These beneficiaries were chosen to ensure that the aid reached those who would benefit most from this support. The society’s approach has been marked by a commitment to uplifting communities and empowering them to thrive independently.
Secretary and Chairperson of the Yakhwrai Welfare Society, Bimal Debbarma, shared insights into the society’s impactful journey. Drawing on his experience of over 22 years in the education field, he revealed the profound impact of the society’s initiatives. Notably, during the pandemic, the distribution of areca nut nurseries was a beacon of hope for many, offering a pathway to sustainable livelihoods.
In a conversation with Indian Times Express, Bimal Debbarma reflected on his passion for serving others. He emphasized that the society’s efforts were sustained through the donations of like-minded individuals and his personal contributions. Having dedicated more than two decades to education, Bimal Debbarma proudly stated, “I have been serving more than 10,000+ students in our hostel and have sent many people to other states for higher studies. I feel really good to serve people. I am living with my hostel students. I do not have my own house to live nor do I have any property like others. All I have is my students and my venture to serve people.”
