Petroleum Companies Cut Prices of Commercial LPG Cylinders in India

On Monday, petroleum and oil marketing companies reduced the price of commercial LPG cylinders by ₹171.50 with immediate effect, according to sources cited by news agency ANI. The price cut only applies to commercial LPG cylinders and not domestic ones.

The new retail sale price for a 19 kg LPG cylinder in Delhi is now ₹1,856.50, while in Mumbai it is ₹1,808, down from the previous price of ₹1,980. In Kolkata, the commercial LPG cylinder will now cost ₹1,960.50 instead of ₹2,132.00. In Chennai, it will cost ₹2,021 instead of ₹2,192.

The prices of commercial gas tend to fluctuate more compared to domestic LPG cylinders. For instance, the rate of commercial gas cylinders was reduced by ₹92 on the first day of the 2024 fiscal year. However, in March, the prices of commercial LPG cylinders increased by ₹350.50 per unit, while domestic LPG cylinders were raised by ₹50 per unit. In January, they were increased by ₹25.

In 2022, domestic LPG cylinder prices have been hiked four times and reduced three times.

The reduction in the price of commercial LPG cylinders will benefit businesses and industries that use LPG as a fuel source. This move comes as the country is still recovering from the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and businesses are striving to reduce their costs.

The reduction in the price of commercial LPG cylinders is a welcome move by the government and the petroleum and oil marketing companies. It is expected to give a much-needed boost to businesses and industries that are still reeling from the pandemic’s impact.

It remains to be seen if the prices of commercial LPG cylinders will continue to decrease in the coming months or if they will increase again. Nevertheless, the reduction in price is a positive development for the country’s economy and businesses.
