President Droupadi Murmu recently conferred the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, a national award for children, in a ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The award, which is given annually, recognizes exceptional achievements of children in various fields such as academics, sports, arts, culture, and social service.
The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar is given in two categories: Bal Shakti Puraskar and Bal Kalyan Puraskar. The Bal Shakti Puraskar is awarded to children for exceptional achievements in academics, sports, arts, culture, and innovation, while the Bal Kalyan Puraskar is given to children for exceptional contributions in the field of social service. This year, a total of 31 children were awarded the Bal Shakti Puraskar and 8 children were awarded the Bal Kalyan Puraskar. The President also felicitated the children with medals and certificates.
The awardees included children from different states and backgrounds, who have excelled in various fields such as academics, sports, arts, culture, and social service. Some of the notable awardees were a child prodigy in mathematics, a national level swimming champion, a young scientist who has made significant contributions in the field of renewable energy, and a child who has been working towards the upliftment of underprivileged children.
In her address, President Droupadi Murmu congratulated the awardees and urged them to continue working towards their goals with determination and dedication. She also encouraged them to be role models for other children and inspire them to work towards their own goals.
The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar is a significant initiative by the Government of India to acknowledge and honor the achievements of children in various fields. It is a recognition of the hard work and dedication of young talents and aims to inspire them to continue working towards their goals
Awardees are chosen based on the following criteria:
Innovation: A youngster must perform something creative in the realm of research and innovation that has an effect on humans, living beings, and the environment.
Social Service: A kid must have acted on any social concerns such as child marriage, sexual abuse, and so on.
Education: This award is given to a youngster who has excelled academically on a national or worldwide level.
Sports: A kid who has excelled at a national or international level in the field of sports is eligible for this prize.
Arts & Culture: A youngster under this age who excels in the disciplines of music, dancing, and painting is deemed eligible for the puraskar.
Bravery: The award is given to a youngster who demonstrates bravery and courage in order to make a difference in someone’s life or for the environment.
