Tragic Road Accident in Kushtagi Claims Six Lives, Including Two Children and a Woman


A devastating road accident occurred on Sunday evening in Kushtagi taluk, resulting in the immediate loss of six lives, including two children and a woman. The incident took place on the national highway near Kalkeri village. Authorities have reported that the accident involved a car and a lorry, and the impact was so severe that the car collided head-on with the lower part of the lorry’s front side.

Preliminary investigations suggest that all the deceased individuals hailed from Vijayapura. The car was en route to Bengaluru from Vijayapura, while the lorry was traveling from Tamil Nadu to Gujarat. In response to this tragic event, a crane was deployed to remove the car from the accident site, and the victims’ bodies were transferred to a nearby hospital.

The authorities have registered a case pertaining to the incident. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed profound sorrow over the accident and announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased, as a gesture of support and sympathy during this difficult time. This tragic road accident serves as a stark reminder of the need for heightened road safety measures and reinforces the importance of adhering to traffic regulations to prevent such unfortunate incidents in the future.
