Don’t be too surprised that the same railway has rules for reserving the lower berth but there are rules for the upper berth as well. The rules mean there are a few things to know here.

Most of the passengers book their journey tickets in advance on the IRCTC website or mobile app. While booking the train ticket, the berth selection option is lower berth, middle berth, upper berth, side lower berth, side upper berth, many have noticed that there are different berth options.

Railways have made such an option available for them to choose the option they want. There are some rules and regulations regarding the upper berth. If railway passengers book their train tickets well in advance, they will get the berth they want, but if they book a little before the date of travel, they have to settle for whichever berth is available.

It is known that there are eight berths in each section of third AC class and sleeper class. Among them, there are 2 lower berths, 2 middle berths, 2 upper berths, 1 side lower berth, 1 side upper berth.

Those who are in the middle berth and upper berth have the opportunity to sit in the lower berth. That too from 6 am to 10 pm. The sleeping time is from 10 pm to 6 am. They should sleep in whose berth.

But if the side lower berth is allotted to two passengers through RAC tickets, there is a doubt as to where the people in the side upper berth should sit. Here also the same rules apply.
