Earlier this week, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of the ‘Aarogya Maitri’ project, under which India will provide essential medical supplies to any developing country impacted by natural disasters or humanitarian crises.
The Vaccine Maitri initiative, which is an initiative launched by the government of India, supplied vaccines made in India to over 100 countries during the COVID pandemic. The project ‘Aarogya Maitri’ is going to be launched soon. In order to implement this project, the Government of India will provide essential medical supplies to any developing countries that have been affected by natural disasters or humanitarian crises.
As part of his opening remarks at the closing session of this year’s Voice of the Global South Summit, Prime Minister Modi announced that India would launch a ‘Global-South Science and Technology initiative’ in order to share its expertise with other developing nations. There will also be an initiative by the Government of India to establish ‘Global-South Scholarships’ for students from developing nations who wish to pursue higher education in India.
It is with great pleasure that I can announce that India will establish a ‘Global-South Center of Excellence’. According to PM Modi, this institution will conduct research on solutions or best practices for development in any of our countries, which can be scaled up and implemented in other countries that belong to the Global South,” he said.
In his remarks at the concluding session of the Voice of Global South Summit, PM Modi said, “India has also made great strides in areas like space technology and nuclear energy. We will launch a ‘Global-South Science & Technology initiative’ to share our expertise with other developing nations.” He said that the ancient wisdom of India inspires the theme of today’s session of the Voice of Global South Summit.
