In a shocking incident that unfolded on Sunday in Munger city, a bride-to-be was shot by a Bihar Police personnel just hours before her wedding. The accused, identified as Aman Kumar, is currently posted in Patna as a member of the Bihar Police force. The victim, Apoorva Kumari, 26, had visited a beauty parlour in the Kasturba Water Works area for her bridal make-up when the horrific incident occurred. Eyewitnesses at the beauty parlour recounted that Aman Kumar had accompanied the bride and stood behind her as she was getting ready. Initially, the staff mistook him for a family member.
However, without warning, Aman Kumar fired a bullet at the bride from behind. The bullet entered her left shoulder and exited from the right side of her chest. The quick-thinking staff members prevented further tragedy as they intervened when the accused attempted to turn the gun on himself. Despite their efforts, Aman Kumar managed to escape the scene. The bride’s father immediately informed the police, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sadar, Rajesh Kumar, arrived at the scene along with other officers. Following the incident, the bride was rushed to Sadar Hospital for medical treatment.
Civil Surgeon PM Sahay confirmed that the bullet had passed through the victim’s right shoulder, and she was currently in stable condition. During the investigation, the police discovered a pistol, a hollow, and two live cartridges at the crime scene. They reviewed CCTV footage, which aided in identifying the accused. SDPO Rajesh Kumar assured that the police were actively pursuing Aman Kumar’s arrest and conducting raids to apprehend him. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and the police are exploring all possible angles in their investigation. This shocking act of violence has left the community in Munger in a state of shock and has raised concerns about safety and security.
