In a devastating incident that occurred on Monday morning, a fire broke out in a house located in the Khar Danda area of Mumbai, resulting in six individuals, including two young children, sustaining burn injuries. The cause of the fire was attributed to a cooking gas leakage, which triggered a violent explosion of a gas cylinder within the single-storey structure. The Mumbai fire brigade chief, Sanjay Manjrekar, informed PTI about the sequence of events.
The incident unfolded at approximately 8:45 am on Govind Patil Marg, near a local bakery. Prompt action was taken as four fire engines and additional firefighting equipment swiftly arrived at the scene. By 9:17 am, the diligent efforts of the firefighters had successfully extinguished the blaze, averting further damage. Sadly, the consequences of the fire were severe, with six individuals suffering burn injuries ranging from 40 to 51 percent. Among the victims were two children aged six and seven, along with a 65-year-old woman. They were all expeditiously transported to Bhabha Hospital in Bandra for immediate medical attention.
Currently, they are under the care of medical professionals and receiving necessary treatment to aid in their recovery. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential hazards posed by gas leakages and the critical importance of maintaining safety protocols in households.
