Himachal Pradesh to Introduce Drug De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Policy for Youth, Establish State-of-the-Art Facility with NIMHANS Support

In an effort to combat the rising issue of drug abuse among the youth, the government of Himachal Pradesh has announced its plans to formulate a comprehensive drug de-addiction and rehabilitation policy. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu highlighted the concerning trend of young individuals becoming addicted to drugs due to their excessive reliance on mobile phones. In order to address this pressing issue, the state government is taking decisive action and intends to establish a state-of-the-art drug de-addiction and rehabilitation center with the assistance of the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS).

During a meeting where a draft policy was discussed, Chief Minister Sukhu instructed relevant officials to identify suitable land for the proposed center. The facility aims not only to provide effective drug de-addiction treatments but also to offer professional training opportunities to its residents. By doing so, it seeks to instill lost confidence in the individuals and guide them towards personal and professional growth. The center will prioritize reestablishing connections between the residents and their families and society at large, as this plays a crucial role in facilitating their successful reintegration into normal life.

The forthcoming drug de-addiction and rehabilitation policy represents a significant step forward in addressing the growing concern of drug abuse among the youth in Himachal Pradesh. By establishing a state-of-the-art facility in collaboration with NIMHANS, the government is demonstrating its commitment to providing comprehensive support and effective solutions for those struggling with drug addiction. The proposed center’s multifaceted approach, encompassing professional training, therapy, and reintegration support, holds the promise of restoring the affected individuals’ lives and empowering them to build a brighter future.
