Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen is set to visit India for three days, during which he will meet with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and attend the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) India-Israel Business Forum. Cohen will also participate in a program in Agra on 10 May and travel to Mumbai on 11 May before returning to Israel. The visit comes after Israeli Economy Minister Nir Barkat’s visit to India in April to strengthen bilateral ties in areas of interest such as automotive technologies and fintech.Israeli Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana and the parliamentary delegation also paid an official visit to India in March, and Israeli Ambassador to India Naor Gilon has hailed the strong ties between the two countries. He said that the cooperation between India and Israel is built on deep trust, evident in the wide fields of cooperation, including in sensitive areas such as defence.India and Israel have established bilateral consultation mechanisms in all sectors of collaboration, including water, agriculture, counter-terrorism, and defence. The two countries celebrated 30 years of full diplomatic relations in 2022, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to visit India by the end of this year. The visit of Israeli officials to India underscores the growing importance of India to Israel and the world, as well as the strong friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
