Delhi-NCR is set to witness a significant improvement in its transportation infrastructure with the development of a new six-lane highway, according to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. The access-controlled highway is currently under construction, connecting DND Maharani Bagh to the Junction with the Jaitpur-Pushta Road Section of NH-148NA. The primary objective of this highway is to facilitate smoother traffic flow between Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh while enhancing connectivity between North/East Delhi and Noida-Ghaziabad areas. This development is expected to significantly reduce travel time and congestion on existing routes. Moreover, the highway will establish vital connections with major thoroughfares like the Direct Noida-Delhi flyways, Delhi-Meerut, Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP), NH-2 (Delhi-Agra), Delhi Mumbai Expressway, and Jewar airport.
In an effort to integrate sustainable practices, the project incorporates several environmentally friendly elements. Notably, the Delhi region section of the highway will feature a cross-elevated metro railway line at four locations, further enhancing the region’s mass transit system. Additionally, the stretch will be adorned with a Vertical Garden along all piers, providing aesthetic appeal and environmental benefits. The development of this new highway aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting sustainable construction practices.
