Reliance Jio, the Indian telecom company, has been ranked the second-strongest telecom brand in the world, according to a recent report by Brand Finance, a brand valuation and strategy consultancy. The report, titled “Telecoms 150 2022,” analyzed and ranked the top 150 telecom brands globally based on their brand value, brand strength, and enterprise value.
Reliance Jio, which is owned by India’s largest conglomerate, Reliance Industries, scored 91.7 out of 100 in the brand strength index (BSI) and was rated as a ‘AAA’ brand, the highest rating possible. The BSI measures a brand’s ability to create demand, maintain market position, and command a premium price. Only the Chinese company, Huawei, ranked higher than Reliance Jio with a score of 92.2 out of 100.
The report noted that Reliance Jio’s strong brand strength is due to its “disruptive pricing strategy, widespread adoption, and rapidly growing customer base.” Since its launch in 2016, Reliance Jio has transformed the Indian telecom industry by offering cheap data plans and free voice calls. It quickly gained over 100 million customers and now has over 450 million subscribers, making it the largest telecom operator in India.
Furthermore, Reliance Jio has expanded its services beyond telecommunications, offering a range of digital services such as JioMoney, JioCinema, and JioTV, which has helped to enhance its brand value. The report also highlighted Reliance Jio’s investment in 5G technology and its plans to launch its own 5G network in India, which could further boost its brand strength.
Reliance Jio’s rise to become the second-strongest telecom brand in the world is impressive, considering that it is only six years old. It has disrupted the Indian telecom industry and forced other operators to lower their prices and improve their services to remain competitive. The company has also played a crucial role in the digitalization of India by providing affordable internet services to millions of people.
