In a significant development, the Chief Minister-designate of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, along with his deputy, DK Shivakumar, met with senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi on Friday to discuss potential cabinet members and extend a formal invitation for the upcoming swearing-in ceremony. This meeting followed the Congress Legislature Party’s (CLP) gathering on Thursday, where Siddaramaiah was unanimously elected as the leader.

Following his election as CLP leader, Siddaramaiah visited the Governor’s office, where he received an invitation to form the next government in Karnataka. In line with this mandate, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar are set to be sworn in as the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister respectively. The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled to take place at 12:30 pm on Saturday at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.

During the meeting with Sonia Gandhi, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar discussed potential candidates to be inducted into the cabinet. The Congress high command’s involvement in finalizing the names highlights the party’s efforts to ensure a cohesive and effective governance structure in Karnataka. The swearing-in ceremony is anticipated to be attended by prominent leaders and supporters of the Congress party. It will mark the official commencement of Siddaramaiah’s term as Chief Minister, while DK Shivakumar’s appointment as Deputy Chief Minister underlines the party’s focus on strengthening its leadership in the state. With the selection of cabinet members and the invitation extended to the Congress high command, Siddaramaiah’s government is poised to begin its tenure with a strong foundation, aiming to address the diverse needs and concerns of the people of Karnataka.
