Through Instagram, Lalit Modi said he was brought from Mexico to London after three weeks of imprisonment. Dr Satyanarayana Mysore, HOD and consultant pulmonology, sleep physician, Manipal Hospital, Old Airport Road, Bangalore, elucidated that the structured definition of reinfection has moved from 120 days to 90 days.

Dr Mysore said “There was a small study done in Denmark where BA 1 and BA 2 sub-variants did cause reinfection even though it is very rare. Covid reinfection does not seem to be a big issue for a large number of people however, such reinfections within a span of two weeks are to be confirmed only after proper genomic sequencing. They are rare and should be carefully considered after serotyping and genomic sequencing. Usually, innate immune protection, that is, T cell immunity and anti-neutralising antibodies prevent the second subsequent infection, which helps in immediate recovery.”
